Going trenchless under the traffic

When it comes to installing pipes in Wellington’s busy city streets, we’ve got solutions to keep things moving as well as possible.

Take a look at this at this great reel produced by Wellington City Council after a recent visit to our project on Taranaki Street in central Wellington.

Our project in Taranaki St is to install a new wastewater rising main from Market Lane – near the lower part of the city up to the main intercepting sewer near to Wigan St. This new rising main will provide resilience to the network and cater for future growth.

In the video our team can be seen preparing to install a section of the main, using a trenchless technique called pipe ramming, under a busy intersection.

We are carrying out the work on behalf of Wellington Water and with our friends at GHD.
