Never judge a job by what we leave on the surface.
This looks like a nice section of asphalt reinstatement and some kerbing. It's hard to believe that we just completed installation of two 6m deep chambers in this busy urban Wellington street.
The work was undertaken for Wellington Water and was aimed at eliminating seepage of wastewater in the storm water system and addressing some structural issues associated with aging infrastructure.
We installed the chambers under a road closure by caisson sinking. This methodology minimised the footprint of the site and eliminated some of the excavation risks associated with digging deep holes in tight spaces.
As ever, we are grateful for the help that Wellington City Council gave us in a developing safe and effective traffic management solution, and for the patience of the residents, commuters, and residents with whom we share the road corridor.
