Progress is good on the Porirua Branch Extension project that we are undertaking on behalf of Wellington Water. This project will provide resilience and cater for growth in Eastern Porirua.
For a week now we have been installing a trial section of main in Seismically Resilient Ductile Iron pipe supplied by Kurimoto Ltd. through Hynds Pipe Systems Limited. This is the first time that this new technology has been tried here in New Zealand and it is part of a wider programme that aims to improve our earthquake response in the future.
This is an exciting project that we are privileged to be part of. Our site team have been lucky enough to be completing the installation under the expert guidance of Yabuta-san; Kurimoto Ltd.'s Chief Engineer.
He has been teaching us how to joint this new system efficiently and effectively. As you can see Ray and Yabuta-san have developed a rapport and the job is a fun place to visit.
