How do you dig a 6m deep hole safely?

How do you dig a 6m deep hole in a busy Wellington CBD intersection where congested underground services mean that there is very little available space in the ground?

This is How.

Ray and the team successfully sinking an 1800 dia. Chamber onto an existing interceptor sewer 6m beneath a busy Wellington CBD intersection.

This is a great job that we recently completed for Wellington Water. They were over the moon with the product as it afforded them a safe and user-friendly access point from which they could continue their maintenance programme for this ageing asset.

From our perspective this job demonstrated that smart solutions, such as caisson sinking, and well-planned traffic management can help us to mitigate significant risks associated with deep excavations and congested underground services all while working on tight sites in heavily trafficked environments.
